Terms of Service
Important terms, customer responsibilities, diagnostic inspection policies, and mandatory life-safety protocols governing our nationwide heating service network.
Effective Date: January 1, 2024 • Last Reviewed: Current Operating Season
1. Agreement to Terms & Network Operational Role
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("Customer," "you," or "your") and Local Furnace Repair ("we," "our," or "us"), governing your use of https://localfurnacerepairexperts.com and all diagnostic dispatch services coordinated via our telephone desk at 877-729-2205.
Local Furnace Repair operates a nationwide heating service dispatch and diagnostic network. Our platform connects homeowners, landlords, and commercial facility managers with independent, licensed, and insured HVAC service technicians who perform on-site troubleshooting, combustion testing, mechanical repairs, and heating system installations. By scheduling a service call or requesting diagnostic assistance, you acknowledge and agree to these Terms in full.
2. Service Intake, Dispatch Protocols, & Diagnostic Estimates
Heating service requests undergo a structured intake procedure:
- Dispatch Intake: Our dispatch desk records heating symptoms, furnace fuel source (natural gas, propane, electric, heat pump, or hydronic boiler), equipment age, error codes, and local weather conditions to coordinate an appropriate technical response.
- Diagnostic Evaluation: On-site service begins with a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation. Technicians test 24V control circuits, measure manifold gas pressure with digital manometers, calculate duct static pressure, inspect burner flame rectification, and evaluate heat exchanger physical integrity.
- Itemized Upfront Estimates: Prior to performing any component replacement or mechanical repair, the technician provides a clear, itemized written estimate detailing the necessary parts, labor, and anticipated repair timeline. No mechanical repairs proceed without explicit Customer authorization.
3. Customer Workspace Responsibilities & Property Access
To ensure safe, effective equipment evaluations, the Customer agrees to the following site conditions:
- Authorized Adult Presence: An adult property owner, tenant, or designated property manager (at least 18 years of age) with legal authority to approve mechanical work and authorize payments must remain on site for the duration of the service window.
- Clear & Safe Access: Clear, unobstructed, and well-lit access must be maintained to heating units, furnaces, air handlers, outdoor heat pump condensers, electrical breaker panels, emergency shutoff switches, and thermostats. Attic ladders, crawlspace hatches, and mechanical room doors must operate safely.
- Workspace Hazard Mitigation: Workspaces surrounding combustion equipment must remain free from volatile chemicals, paint thinners, standing water, biohazards, and domestic clutter. Pets must be secured in a separate area prior to technician arrival.
4. Work Authorizations & Mechanical Code Compliance
Technicians perform repairs strictly according to manufacturer technical specifications, the International Mechanical Code (IMC), the National Fuel Gas Code (NFPA 54), and local municipal building codes. When replacement components (such as hot surface igniters, draft inducer motors, pressure switches, gas valves, or electronic control boards) are required, technicians install manufacturer-approved or OEM-equivalent parts designed for your equipment model.
The Customer is responsible for verifying that any specialized building rules (e.g., condominium HOA guidelines, commercial landlord work permits, or historic district restrictions) are satisfied prior to commencing major heating equipment installations.
5. Mandatory Life-Safety Shutoff Protocols
Combustion heating equipment carries inherent life-safety responsibilities regarding fuel gas and carbon monoxide emissions. Technicians are legally and ethically bound by mechanical safety codes to protect life and property:
- Hazardous Conditions: If a diagnostic evaluation reveals imminent life-safety hazards—including but not limited to severe heat exchanger cracks allowing carbon monoxide to enter the living space, active natural gas or propane leaks, severely compromised flue chimneys, or malfunctioning rollout safety switches—the technician is required by law to turn off the fuel supply and disconnect electrical power to the unsafe unit.
- Red-Tag Notification: The technician will issue a formal written safety notice ("red tag") explaining the mechanical defect and required remedial repairs. Equipment will remain disconnected until hazardous conditions are completely resolved and verified safe.
- Customer Acknowledgment: You acknowledge that technicians cannot bypass safety switches or leave verified hazardous combustion equipment operational under any circumstances.
6. Pricing, Payments, & Cancellation Policies
- Diagnostic Fees: A standard diagnostic dispatch fee covers technician travel, electrical ladder diagram troubleshooting, and mechanical testing. This fee is due upon completion of the diagnostic evaluation regardless of whether the Customer elects to proceed with recommended repairs.
- Payment Terms: Payment for authorized repairs and replacement components is due immediately upon completion of the work. Accepted payment methods include major credit cards, debit cards, and approved commercial invoicing where established in advance.
- Cancellations & Rescheduling: For non-emergency routine tune-ups or scheduled replacements, we request at least 24 hours advance notice to cancel or reschedule, allowing our dispatchers to reallocate appointment windows to property owners in heating emergencies. In severe weather events, appointments may be prioritized based on vulnerability and total heating loss.
7. Warranties, Disclaimers, & Limitations of Liability
- Component & Labor Warranties: Replacement heating components carry the warranty terms established by the equipment manufacturer. Specific labor warranties for installation or repair work will be detailed in writing on your service invoice.
- Pre-Existing Conditions: We are not liable for pre-existing equipment defects, improper installations performed by previous contractors, unpermitted duct modifications, or secondary structural water damage resulting from burst frozen pipes that occurred prior to our technician's arrival.
- Limitation of Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our aggregate liability arising out of any service call, whether in contract, tort, or warranty, shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Customer for the specific service call giving rise to the claim. In no event shall we be liable for indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages.
8. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the heating repair services were performed, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or services provided shall first be submitted to good-faith mediation before pursuing formal legal proceedings.
